As a rule phishers use electronic mail message sent to a vast number of Internet users and hope that someone will “ensnare” and will send them his/her data.
Phishing is a misspelled word fishing (to catch fish). This term is used to refer to the most common form of Internet fraud.
Electronic mail messages used as a lure are often look similar to genuine official bank messages. But they are aimed to allure bank client to false web sites disguised as sites of known organizations to acquire your personal data (bank card number, password, PIN-CODE etc.) and to use this information for abstraction of funds from your card.
Even if you simply followed the link and disagreed to transfer them your personal data, your PC may be infected with a virus which will scan each keyboard keystroke and transfer your data entered at the bank authentic web site to phishers.
Specific features of the fact that the mail was sent by phishers:
- Actions requested in the mail require you immediate answer. For example, your account will be closed or temporarily blocked;
- Messages contain web links which look like genuine bank page links. However, all these links lead to false site or open a pop-up window requesting or demanding confirmation of your personal data;
- Such messages may contain obvious misprints or orthographical mistakes which allow messages to override “spam” filters set by Internet providers;

- sends messages asking to confirm, update or provide personal data such as bank card number and its validity, PIN-CODE, username, mother’s maiden name or memorable word mentioned in card application;
- sends messages with your personal data-entry form
- asks you to enter the remote banking (RB) system by link in the mail as it contradicts safety considerations.
